Our Founder
Alessandra Maggioni’s lifelong dream of becoming a professional tennis player was lost when she underwent posterior spinal fusion surgery to correct her scoliosis. After losing her sense of identity and falling into depression, she found hope in helping others. She returned to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as a mentor and ambassador, sharing her story at hospital events and lending support to spinal fusion patients and their families. Upon seeing the electrifying glimpse of how helping others had the power of healing herself, and discovering her God-given purpose, Alessandra founded Give to Heal (previously known as James Will Not Die). Give to Heal has since worked with orphaned children in Latin America, and it began its start in the United States. Alessandra is the recipient of the Miami Herald Silver Knight Award and of three Presidential Volunteer Service Awards.
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9 :6-8
